Today-in Palmaire I caught a 2 foot plus Bullseye Snakehead fish for the first time in the lake in my complex.......... I target bowfin/mudfish because of their attack, size and fight but this wasnt a bowfin...this was the infamous invasive bullseye snakehead from Asia which will eat all other species of fish. I called Florida Fisheries and they verified what it was. Kill these fish if you catch them. I hate killing anything but these fish dont belong in the US never mind Florida The way to tell the diffence between this and a bowfin is relatively easy. Snakeheads have a long dorsal fin and by the tail is a round colorful circle/spot-hence the name bulleye. Apparently they have been spotted in this area for the last 10 years but I had never caught one till today. bags |
