1. GWB and his leadership (Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, etc) follow the principle that the President can do no wrong. He is the "commander in chief", therefore he is not accountable to Congress and as President, he can (a) wiretap without court order,and violate FISA[ (b) arrest and hold anyone whom he designates ex parte a "battlefield detainee" or"terrorist" without granting habeus corpus (A person arrested under U.S. jurisdiction the right to go before a federala judge to show no basis for the illegal arrest in the first instance - not an acquittal, just no probable cause for the arrest and extensive detention (6 years or more); (c) authorize rendition -sending detainees overseas for torture; (d) refuse to appear before senate judiciar committees where inquiry into illegal activities are conducted; (e) refuse representatives (Rove, personal counsel) from testifying before Senate committees on the bases of "executive privilege" - not "national security" (f) issue written statement on what laws the Executive branch will follow and how the Executive brance interprets laws passed by congress. All of these alleged rights of the president detroy basic checks and balances set up in the Consitution.

2. The Republicans want faith based charities or federal funds to go to religious instututions - in violation of the 1st amendent - the separation of church and state. Agnostices, Atheists all have the right to no religious beliefs in public school or religious use of their taxes

3. Republicans find same sex marriage a social horror that cannot be tolerated. Why? Who is hurt" live and let live. Gays, lesbians - who cares if they "love" each other. Let them have their contratual relationship whether called "marriage" or Civil Unions.

4. Republicans want to ban stem cell research. What a horror. Is it wrong to find a cure for diabetes, alsheimer, possibly cancer, by using embryo stem cells to extend the quality of life of the living?

5. Republicans want to destroy a woman's right to an abortion in the pre viable stage of a fetus. That right should not be taken away from women. When a fetus is viable (second or third trimesta - that is a different story. life has begun as I know it.

6.Republicans want to appoint judges in the ilk of Scalia, Thomas, Alito and Roberts. Conservative judges who will rule all of the above in favor of Bush and McCain. I favor the judicial construction of the constitution as expressed by Bryer, Ginsburg, Stevens and Souter. Kennedy goes either way - he saved Hageus Corpus as applicable to all persons in U.S jurisdiction, whether aliens or U.S. Citizens.

Note all of the above reaons to vote democratic are beliefs, personal and emotional feelings - in no way "bashing" republicans. If you feel the way I do as noted above, McCain is not the man to be president (or God forbid - the possibility of Paylin taking over that job).

I have no love of Obama, there are many issues with him that disturb me, but his party platform and principles (as above stated) conform more to my personal beliefs.
